The problem is that there is not enough room for the plugs connecting the device and the tail light to fit behind the tail light upon reinstillation of the tail light. My solution was to install the device on the inside of the rear fender using double sided tape (be sure to use a good cleaning solvent on the inside of the rear fender where you plan to attach the device) and put the plugs just barely through the hole connecting the outside and inside of the rear fender. I held the plugs in place by using a black plastic zip tie to attach the wires from the plugs to the other wiring that does fit behind the tail light assembly.
