I suspect that this was due to their using a plastic reflector which out-gassed residual chemicals from the plastic. Hella utilizes a glass reflector and a precision focused, glass lens with a broad lower beam with an up swept cutoff to the right for better visibility of road signs.The Hella beam is much brighter and better focused than the HD headlamp. I had used Hella in the past on my automobiles and have always been impressed with their quality.While maybe not as "blingy" as the HD crystal lamp, it looks way better than the fogged lens and excels in performance. The headlamp comes with an 80/100 watt bulb, so ordering an additional one is not necessary.
